  • Drew MeNTZER

    senior minister

As the Senior Minister here at Second Church my responsibilities are to preach, teach, care for people and lead Second Church in the direction God wants us to go. My family and I moved here in March of 1997 and it has been a fun journey with this church. I was born and raised in Havre de Grace, MD. I attended Johnson University in Knoxville, TN, where I met and married Judy. Together we have served churches in Roanoke, VA and Knoxville, TN. Judy and I have two children. Our son Doug and his wife Sarah live in Knoxville, TN and have our two wonderful grandsons Jack and Jake. Our daughter Deedra graduated from Tennessee School for the Blind in 1995 with a special education diploma and lives at home with us. My hobbies include playing basketball, working out, fishing, reading, and woodworking.

  • I am the Junior High Minister here at Second Church. My wife, Molly, and I have been leading this ministry since August of 2007. I am a graduate of Lincoln Christian College (now Lincoln Christian University), and I love working with junior high students.

My daughter, Madisyn, was born in 2003. She has been an amazing blessing to our family and just this past year she moved into our ministry. She teaches me about having a heart like Jesus on a daily basis as she ministers to others. Our son, Teagyn, was born in 2005. He is on a path to becoming a true man of God. He loves to preach and teach thanks to the wonderful family we have here at Second.

    children's minister

I have been blessed to be called your Children’s Minister since February 1998. I have loved every minute of what I do, as I know that I have the best job in the world…working with some of God’s amazing kids, their parents and our fantastic volunteer team! I have been married to my best friend and ministry partner, Matt, since November 1988, and in 1993, we were doubly blessed with the birth of our twin sons, Corey and Cole. Matt and I are both from the Danville area, so to be able to do ministry to the community where we were raised and where we raised our boys is truly a blessing. When not at the church, you can find me baking, scrapbooking, watching movies or doing Zumba!

It’s such a joy to share with other believers in my ministry team our love for Jesus Christ and our love of music.

  • I have been the Receptionist since October of 2000. I love working here because no two days are alike, and you just never know what’s going to happen on any given day. It’s such a blessing to interact with the people I work with and the people that come to church here. I love our seniors. They are such a huge blessing. I love hearing things they have to share, and they hold a special place in my heart.

I have 3 grown children. My daughters, Amanda and Kathryn, both live in Danville. My son, Michael, lives in Baltimore, MD. I have one 8 yr. old grandson, Elliott, my little spot of sunshine. During the summer months Elliott and I, (sometimes his mom), spend our weekends camping. I also enjoy beading and making and selling jewelry. The thing I love the most about Second is that we are a "come as you are" church, and I love the generosity of our congregation.
